Barbara Kasten is perhaps best known for her large-scale photographs of well known architectural sites. Her recent works focus on the artifacts of ancient cultures.
The work featured here includes examples of these archaeological investigations: Greek Tanagra Goddesses and funerary amulets from the temples of Guerro, Mexico. The diminutive Tanagra Goddess figurines were placed in the burial chambers of women to serve as their guides in the after life. Similarly, the small Pre-Colombian carved temples assured their owner of a resting place in the after world.
With the use of color, light and focus, Kasten has reinterpreted these objects and presents them as clues by which one may construct history and interpret the past.

여기에 보여지는 작품들은 그 고대유물들의 건축학적인 연구들의 예를 포함하고 있다: 그리스 Tanaga여신과
멕시코, Guerro의 장례 행위들. Tanaga여신의 작은 입상는 사후세계의 안내자로서 역활을 하기 위해서

빛, 포커스 그리고 색깔을 사용하여 카스텐은 위에 묘사한 것들을 재해석하고 그것들이 역사를 구성하고 과거를
재해석하는 단서로서 나타나도록 한다.
